Brett L. Warning provides counsel to clients in a range of insurance and commercial matters. With decades of experience, Brett brings a broad-range perspective to resolving clients’ matters. Brett has successfully litigated cases in state and federal courts in sixteen states across the country with favorable decisions on numerous dispositive motions and many favorable settlements as well. He has taken four cases to trial with three verdicts for his clients and a fourth case mooted before a verdict was rendered. Brett has handled appeals in several states. Brett is also a Cook County Arbitrator with Chair designation.

While in law school Brett served as Articles Editor of the Valparaiso University Law Review and published a Note in the Law Review. He was also Judicial Extern with the Honorable Nicholas J. Bua of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Upon graduation, Brett served as a Judicial Clerk with the Illinois Appellate Court. He then joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Chicago as an Assistant Regional Counsel and was selected to be an Acting Section Chief, supervising a group of nine attorneys as well as support staff.

Publications & Presentations

Brett has given numerous presentations, including several at the Chicago Bar Association, at the U.S. EPA, at the Christian Legal Society Northern Illinois Chapter, at law schools, law firms and high schools, and has published articles regarding insurance fraud and criminal liability for environmental matters, as well as other environmental issues.

Memberships & Affliations

Brett is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, and has previously been a member of the Chicago Bar Association for many years. He is also a Board member of the Friends of Lake Bluff Parks, a former Board member of the Illinois Association of Environmental Professionals, and a former officer and board member of a Chicago children’s charity.
